The most effective way to upgrade the memory on your refurbished laptop is to remove and replace the old memory. You’ll have to access the inside of the machine to do this, usually through a panel on the bottom of the laptop.
Before you attempt this, you need to do two things. First, determine the operating system your refurbished laptop runs on because that will determine the compatible memory upgrades you can purchase. Second, determine the limit of your computer’s motherboard in terms of the physical memory you can have in your machine.

Once you have purchased the correct memory upgrade, it’s time to begin the replacement. Discharge any static electricity on your tools, and open the memory panel on the bottom of the laptop. Then, gently remove your old memory. Line up the pins in the new memory to make sure they fit. Place the new memory inside until it clamps securely. Power on your machine to see the upgrade in performance!
USB devices provide a quick upgrade, although they can get more expensive than purchasing memory to install in your computer’s circuitry. Refurbished laptops generally work just fine with USB 2.0 devices, even though many new removable media run on USB 3.0 for faster upload and download speeds. Have your remote teams and workers go through the list of programs on their refurbished laptops. Do they still have old programs installed, but they’re no longer needed? Delete these old programs your company no longer needs. That frees up memory on the hard drive.
Perhaps some refurbished laptops are running slow because the RAM is trying to keep up with all of the installed programs. Software embedded in the operating system can optimize the memory usage for RAM. Once a year, consider defragging the hard drive. This is where the operating system condenses the memory so it can find information faster. If you’ve removed and added a lot of programs, defragging can improve your computer’s operation.
Cloud-based systems obviate the need for storing software programs on your computer. Instead, your teams can access programs remotely. They probably already do this to a certain extent because you’ve got more people working from home during the pandemic. Having more programs on the cloud, like Google Drive and Microsoft Office 365, frees up storage space on your computer.
